Fuyao is meeting its expectations

According to officials of the town of Moraine, Ohio, US, Fuyao Glass America is continuing to prepare for production at the old General Motors (GM) plant, and is looking to be promising for attracting new business.

The City of Moraine’s newest major employer continues to gear up to begin production.
Fuyao Glass America promised to create hundreds of new jobs when it starts producing windshields in the old General Motors (GM) plant in the town in Ohio, US.
Moraine officials say the Chinese-based company has already invested more than USD 150 million into the city.
The expectation is for the company to invest USD 300 million. It’s the type of investment city officials were asking for. And they say Fuyao is going beyond their expectations.
One example is the road improvements. City officials required the company to widen and pave State Route 741 near the plant. That work is nearly completed and exterior work on the old GM building is moving along.
With regards to progress inside, the company is said to be: “ … doing a little bit on what would be considered… the south side,” Michael Davis, the city’s economic development director said. They’re doing an expansion adding about another 100,000 square feet. And anybody driving down Kettering Boulevard can see that on the east side they’re building a 30,000 square feet office/cafeteria.”
Davis was active in securing Fuyao in Moraine. The economic development director says the company is meeting all the marks on the timeline they have set.
With regards to hiring, Davis says everything is moving at a steady pace.
Moreover, the Fuyao plant seems to be promising for attracting new business.
“There’s an interesting dynamic. With such a large investment like this – is that we know it’s going to have a positive impact on some of our other retail businesses throughout the city,” Davis said. “We’ve seen some reinvestment along Kettering Boulevard. We’re hoping to watch that continue. Once Fuyao is in full operation, we think that they would be able to sustain some additional activity maybe a new restaurant or convenience store. We could see that happen.”
Moraine says the company has a 3 to 4 year window to meet the number of jobs the company has promised.
Fuyao has pledged to hire at least 1,500 people.
