It was recently reported that Cristalleria Artistica La Piana, of Italy, closed the first half of 1995 with a 5.4% rise in net profits at L 7.2 billion. Gross profits totalled L 15.4 billion, up 8.9% and equal to 21.4% of net turnover. Consolidated profits totalled L 8 billion. Gross turnover was up 9.5% at L 72.33 billion, with revenue from domestic sales rising 27% and that from foreign sales falling 3.5%. CALP said the fall in exports was no cause for worry: many countries had contributed to the export figure in 1995, whereas 1994“s figure was the result of a single, massive order. Investment rose by 18.8% to L 10.2 billion.
