Bucher Emhart Glass marked a historic milestone with the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Malaysia. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the Swiss Ambassador to Malaysia, Her Excellency Ms. Chantal Moser, who officiated the ceremony as Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were Senior Management from Bucher Industries, Bucher Emhart Glass, representatives from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and Invest Johor.
The grand opening ceremony was witnessed by Emhart Glass employees, long-standing business partners and key stakeholders who have supported the journey. The presence of global and local leaders underscored the strategic importance of this investment and the strong collaborative spirit between Switzerland and Malaysia. In Ms. Chantal Moser’s opening remarks, she commended the project for strengthening bilateral economic ties and contributing to Malaysia’s role as a high-tech manufacturing hub. The company’s long-term commitment to the region and the significance of this plant in upskilling local talents with Swiss precision and quality.
This new plant represents a major expansion of Bucher Emhart Glass’s manufacturing footprint in Malaysia. The facility spans over 300,000 square foot is equipped with advanced production capabilities in Glass Forming Machine assembly. It will allow the company to meet increasing customer demand more efficiently while providing flexibility to adapt to future market changes. Additionally, it strengthens Emhart Glass’ position as a leader in innovation within the glass industry.
Guests were invited on a guided walk-through of the facility. The tour highlighted Bucher Emhart Glass Malaysia’s emphasis on lean manufacturing, automation, energy efficiency and ergonomic workspaces. From precision engineered workflows to digital integration and sustainable building design, visitors were given an inside look at how the plant embodies the principles of operational excellence. This new plant is not just a workplace, it is a statement of innovation and care for people and the environment.
