British Glass is aware of the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) investigation into the imports of glass packaging from China and Türkiye.
The two cases are:
- an anti-subsidy investigation into subsidised imports of glass containers from Türkiye;
- an anti-dumping investigation into imports of glass containers from China.
British Glass’ members support the investigation and the resolution of any market distortion identified by the Trade Remedies Authority.
Imports of empty glass packaging from China and Türkiye have increased over the past five years, and depending on the outcome of the investigation, tariffs may be applied to empty glass packaging imported into the UK.
Individuals can register their interest in the TRA investigation by 20 March 2026 via the TRA website and the TRA will be holding an online drop in session on 11 March 2026.
