The Chinese National Association for the Glass Industry held its annual meeting from 7-11 November 1995 in the Qingdao province of China. The meeting schedule included the election of a new president, association officials, charting the future roles of the association and a review of the annual budget. Ho Du Fang, a senior official of the Ministry of Light Industry, was elected as the current president of the association. In total, about 210 people, comprising only senior management staff from the various glass plants and related industries, attended the meeting. During the event the JCL Engineering Pte. Ltd. gave a presentation on modern glass machinery. Several Italian industrial suppliers and a French inspection equipment manufacturer were introduced to the Chinese Association. The companies introduced during the meeting were: – Bottero – IS machines and equipment. Represented by Mr. Claudio Allessandrello, sales engineer; – Olivotto – press and blow, blow and blow machines. Represented Mr. Giulio Isernia, director of the glass division; – Tecno 5 – decorating machines. Represented by Mr. Vittorio Dalla Rosa, sales manager; – Emmeti – palletizer/conveyor systems. JCL Engineering, whose parent-company in Taiwan is Asia“s biggest mould manufacturer, was formed in Singapore in 1984 and is dedicated solely to the glass industry. Since 1986, through JCL Engineering, Italian glass machinery suppliers have sold about 35 IS machines, 6 press and blow machines, 12 decorating machines and 24 palletizer systems to the Asian region. Recognising the potential offered by the Chinese market, in 1994 JCL Engineering set up a representative office in Shanghai. This is used as a springboard by their associates to market their products in China. According to the organisers, one immediate result of participating in the seminar was the tender awarded by Tianjin Glasswares to Olivotto for a complete production line.
