According to company CEO Vladimir Vomacka, the Czech Republic glass exporter Bohemia Crystalex Trading (BCT) plans to export Kc 2 billion worth of glass in 1997. As the company started to operate only in the middle of 1996, this year“s target figure cannot be compared with the previous year“s results. BCT was set up by the two largest Czech producers of non-decorative, household glass, Crystalex Novy Bor and Sklo Bohemia Svetla nad Sazavou, to sell their products abroad. Two thirds of BCT“s exports are Crystalex products, and one third those of Sklo Bohemia. BCT employs about 100 people and claims to export glass to 73 countries, with 15 of these accounting for 80% of the overall turnover. Australia, Britain, Canada, France, Greece, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain and the USA are the biggest customers. BCT currently exports 60-65% of all household glass produced in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
