A+W Software announced that one of its two company founders, long-time companion and valued colleague Dr. Renate Albat has passed away.
As a physics lecturer at the University of Giessen, Dr. Albat co-founded the company with Dr. Bernd Wirsam in 1977 with a clear vision: to reduce waste in the flat glass industry by at least 10 percent through innovative software solutions. From an idea developed in close consultation with the industry, she created the first optimisation programs with great dedication and scientific precision, laying the foundation for the success of A+W Software.
By developing the first software for glass cutting optimisation and the first production planning software for the flat glass industry, Dr. Albat set standards in the sector. Her pioneering work, innovative drive and entrepreneurial courage helped A+W quickly become a market leader and expand worldwide. To this day, her values, commitment to quality and passion for mathematical challenges continue to shape our company and the industry as a whole.
A+W Software has lost an exceptional and influential person, on behalf of the executive management and all employees, the company thanks Dr. Albat for her life’s work and will always honour her memory.
