Organised by Reed Messe Salzburg, Austria“s largest organiser of trade fairs, Austroglas “96 attracted more than 4,000 visitors to the Salzburg Ausstellung Zentrum (SAZ), the venue of this year“s fair. From 11 to 13 April 1996, 233 exhibitors displayed the latest equipment and technologies in glass processing in an area of approximately 6,300 square metres of the exhibition centre, which also housed a parallel trade fair for the facade and roofing sector, “Fassade & Dach”. Among those present at the three-day fair were Austria“s Federal Guildmaster of Glaziers and the Deputy Provincial Governor of Salzburg. Computer-controlled grinding machines, glass melting processes, and applications for standard and coloured glass were all on exhibit. As well, visitors saw innovations such as special tinted solar-reflecting glass and heat-insulating internally vapour-deposited double glazing filled with inert gas. EOMAG, part of the Pilkington Group, presented jelly-like fire protection coatings, and new fire protection glass that provides high fire-resistance times based on intelligent layering of float glass panes.
