Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML Holding NV and its lens partner Carl Zeiss confirmed recently they would be able to ship advanced 193 nanometre imaging systems. “Customers are ordering 193 nm lithography systems and we are shipping them,” said Martin van den Brink, ASML“s Executive Vice President Marketing and Technology said in a statement. ASML is the world“s largest maker of scanners and steppers, machines which map out semiconductor circuitry on silicon wafers. Its more advanced duv (deep ultra-violet) scanners sell for about EUR 10 million. Philips Electronics holds a minority stake in ASML. ASML“s customers include the world“s largest chip maker Intel Corp and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, the world“s largest contract chip maker.
