Japan“s Asahi Glass will sell its whole stake in a 50:50 soda ash sales joint venture to its partner in the enterprise, Sumitomo Corp., by the end of April 2007, the two Japanese firms said in a joint statement on 25 December 2006. The joint venture company, Soda Ash Japan Co Ltd, was set up in 2004 with a capital of JPY 100 million (USD 841,042) to market soda ash to the US. Asahi Glass also owns Asahimas, a chlor-alkali producer based in Indonesia.
