On 20 November 1995, Glavunion, of the Czech Republic, and Air Products, US, signed a fifteen-year contract for the supply of compressed air and nitrogen for float sheet glass production. Air Products will invest Czk 100 million into purchasing part of Glavunion“s production equipment and building a new nitrogen producing line. Air Products vice president Al Bull stated that it was the first contract in the Czech Republic whereby Air Products would own and operate production equipment fully serving the buyer“s needs. Principal components for the new equipment will be made by Ferox Decin, in which Air Products has a majority stake. Glavunion“s general director Stepan Popovic said that his company intended to concentrate on glass production and buy specialised services and activities for its needs. Compressed air and nitrogen supplies will serve for two floated glass lines. The Float 2 line with a daily capacity of 700 tonnes of float glass was reconstructed in 1994. The reconstruction of the Float 1 line for Czk 2 billion should be completed by September 1996. According to the company, its daily output will grow from the current 340 to 650 tonnes.
