It has been announced that Securit Saint-Gobain Scandinavia, the Swedish-based subsidiary of the French group Saint-Gobain, is going to invest between EKr 20 million and EKr 30 million over the next three years into Estonian windscreen company Elvex. Based in the town of Elva, in southern Estonia, Elvex sells its products in 15 countries, among them Russia, and has begun negotiations with Belarus on expanding there. Securit Saint-Gobain Scandinavia acquired a 51% stake in Elvex, last December (see Glass-Technology International no. 3-96). In 1995, the Estonian windscreen company made a profit of EKr 9 million on its turnover EKr 53 million.
