Larsen and Toubro profit increased and collaboration planned

A net profit of Rs 169.16 crore for the first half-year ended 30 September 1995 (Rs 112.62 crore for the corresponding period in 1994), up by 50%, was registered by Indian-based Larsen and Toubro Ltd. (L&T). L&T“s revenue from sales increased to Rs 1,785 crore (1994: Rs 1,450 crore), up by 23%. Profit after tax was at Rs 180.16 crore (1994: Rs 144.62 crore), up by 25%. The expenditure has increased to Rs 1,547.60 crore (1994: Rs 1,253.15 crore). L&T has orders worth Rs 2.567 crore for the period, an increase of 39%. The annualised EPS was at Rs 14.78 crore (1994: Rs 10.62 crore). L&T“s Gujarat Cement plant has been scheduled to start commercial production in early 1996. L&T has set up a glass container project at Nasik in Maharashtra in technical collaboration with Vetropak of Switzerland. The plans will be commissioned by March 1996.
