Japanese-based Hoya Corp. has recently reported its recurring profit for the April-September 1995 first half grew 16.6% from a year earlier to JPY 9,039 million. Sales for the first six months of the current business year, ending March 1996 amounted to JPY 56,207 million, up 4.1%. Hoya enjoyed a 54.9% surge in exports led by such products as glass for semiconductors, though its domestic sales fell 2.2%, the leading optical products maker said. Hoya“s after-tax profit for the first half increased 13.5% to JPY 4,262 million. The company will raise its half-yearly dividend to JPY 9.0 per share from JPY 8.5. For the full year, Hoya expects to score a recurring profit of JPY 15.2 billion, another record high and up 11.4% from the preceding year. Continued robust sales of chip-related products should help push up its full-year sales by 4.9% to JPY 111.2 billion, company officials said with after-tax profit estimated to increase 15.4% to JPY 7.5 billion. The company plans to pay a term-end dividend of JPY 10, bringing its annual dividend to JPY 19, up one yen from the previous year. In addition Hoya projects that “95/“96 group net profit should reach JPY 12 billion, an increase of 36.2% on the previous year“s figure of JPY 8.81 billion. “95/“96 sales are expected to increase from JPY 151.47 billion to JPY 163 billion while an EPS of JPY 103.34 against 94/95“s JPY 75.88 is projected.
