Glass manufacturer Sklo Bohemia, of the Czech Republic, is expecting sales on the domestic market to increase by 10-20% in 1996 with respect to the 1995 figure. The increase should be influenced by the commissioning of Sklo Bohemia“s wholesale warehouse, which was opened on 1 March 1996, the construction of which cost roughly Czk 80 million. In 1995 Sklo Bohemia invested about Czk 150 million in its modernisation and new technology. The firm is mainly involved in crystal glass production. Sklo Bohemia produced crystal glass goods worth Czk 433.2 million in 1995. The quantity represents roughly 40% of total domestic crystal glass production. In 1995 Sklo Bohemia produced soda potash glass goods worth Czk 74.9 million and Czk 14.7 million drinking and cut glasses in 1995. The firm exported goods worth Czk 432 million in 1995. About Czk 430 million of the sum was represented by exports via Sklo Bohemia“s exclusive exporter Skloexport. Sklo Bohemia“s largest consumer country is the UK, where the firm exported goods worth Czk 121 million in 1995. Sklo Bohemia“s further important consumer countries are Japan, Germany and Canada. Sklo Bohemia“s pre-tax profit is expected to have been about Czk 43 million in 1995.
