UK-based Sheppee International has recently begun manufacture of five additional servo driven Profile Lehr Loaders for French Saint-Gobain Dsjonqures (SGD). The move follows several months of collaboration, during which time Sheppee technical personnel have fine-tuned the machine to the exact requirements of SGD“s specialised and speedy cosmetic/pharmaceutical production. Sheppee International said that it appreciates the assistance given by technical personnel at SGD, which it believes has further enhanced the relationship between the two companies and helped to perfect the equipment“s suitability for the “flaconage” industry. One small frame Profile has been in production at the Mers-les-Bains factory in northern France since early December. The plan is to install two further identical units in mid-June, followed by three more units in the new SGD factory in Covington, Atlanta, USA in the autumn, when production will begin on SGD“s eighth furnace. The machine which is capable of operating at speeds of up to 20 cycles per minutes, and containing sophisticated but easy to use software, has been developed over a period of four years with assistance from local and overseas customers, resulting in flexibility and ease of operation. Sheppee International currently has seven Profile Lehr Loaders in operation worldwide. Although the Profile has only been commercially available for 18 months, Sheppee expects that it will install over 20 units before the end of this year, with further orders already in the pipeline for 1997. This highlights the serious interest with which the machine has been received by the glass industry, asserted Sheppee.
