The Czech Republic glass maker Sklo Bohemia Svetla nad Sazavou, which exports its products through Bohemia Crystalex Trading, says it plans to turn out lead crystal worth Kc 920 million in 1997, up 18% on the 1996 target of Kc 780 million. Gross profits are expected to remain at last year“s level of Kc 45 million. Of the Kc 920 million, Kc 680 million would be generated by exports, and Kc 240 million by sales on the domestic market. The company makes 80,000 types of hand-and machine-made products. Half of the output are drinking glasses, both plain and cut. Sklo Bohemia produces 40% of the total Czech output of 24% lead crystal. Sklo Bohemia was founded in 1994 and privatised in the second wave of coupon privatisation. About 80 percent of it is owned by investment funds and companies, with funds managed by Prvni Investicni and Bohemia Glass holding the controlling stake. The company employs 1,700 people.
