Japan“s Ministry of Health and Welfare has approved the “Aqua Potential,” apparatus that generates electrolysed acidic and alkaline water for medical use. The equipment, developed by Asahi Glass Engineering, will be marketed by Sakura Finetechnical. “Aqua Potential” uses tap water, to which salt solutions are added. After electrolysis, strongly acidic solutions are obtained at the anode. These solutions can be used for disinfection, providing a disinfection efficiency at the same level as chemical disinfectants. At the cathode strongly basic solutions are generated that can be used as purified water. The solution generating capacity is 1 litre/min. at both electrodes.
