The lighting division of UK glass firm Demaglass recently secured a 1997 supply agreement with Japan“s Toshiba for almost 5 million light bulb shells. During a recent 19-day visit to the Far East, a three-man team of Demaglass managers visited Toshiba“s Tokyo head office as well as a number of other companies in seven other Asian countries. Demaglass“s marketing director, Eddie Engel, stated: “With our recent investment in improved production equipment, we are now one of the few glass manufacturers in the world able to provide the Ribbon technology required by lamp manufacturing companies in Asia, such as Toshiba. Lamp production in the Asia-Pacific region has increased by over 20% for the past five years and widespread investment in high-speed production by the lamp manufacturers has presented us with some tremendous sales opportunities.”
