29 December 1997: The Austrian refractory materials producer Veitsch-Radex, a subsidiary of Radex Heraklith Industriebeteiligungs AG, plans to acquire the Swiss electric furnace manufacturer Gautschi Electro-Fours from Deutz AG of Germany. Negotiations for the acquisition, through Veitsch-Radex“s wholly-owned subsidiary Maerz Ofenbau, are reported to be at an advanced stage, with Deutz hoping to finalise the sell-off by the beginning of 1998.
