3 December 1998: Mexico City has been chosen to host the Glass Tempering and Laminating Seminar which is being organized by the Glass Association of North America (GANA). It is the first time such a seminar is being held outside the United States. The seminar is scheduled for 1-2 March 1999 at the Sheraton Maria Isabel hotel and will feature speakers from the United States and Mexico. There will also be presentations on developing codes, standards and trends in architectural glass production. On 16-17 March 1999, GANA will again be conducting its Glass Tempering and Laminating Seminar, this time at the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas, US. According to GANA“s president, Doug Sampsel (who is also chairman of the association“s tempering division), the intent of the seminar is to “broaden the knowledge of our industry members on processes, products and standards related to tempered and laminated glass, thus enhancing the presence of these products in the marketplace.” The seminar“s co-chairmen, Valerie Block and Tom Noe pointed out that there will be something for everyone with areas ranging from decorative screen printing to analyzing tempered glass to autoclave issues. Companies participating as speakers include PPG Industries, Inc., Billco Manufacturing, Inc., The Fletcher-Terry Company, Edgeworks, Inc., DuPont, Solutia Inc., Chemetall Chemical Products, Inc., Morton International, Tamglass, Inc., Guardian Industries Corp., HGP Industries, Cerdec Corporation, Vesuvius McDanel, and Viracon.
