4 March 1999: Nippon Electric Glass Co. Ltd., a major Japanese producer of cathode-ray tube glass, has announced new group and parent forecasts for the year to 31 March 1999. The group forecasts sales of 320 billion yen, slightly lower than the previous forecast of 340 billion yen. Group sales in the same period a year ago were 337.42 billion yen. Net profit forecast has been changed to 8 billion yen from the previous estimate of 11 billion yen. Actual net profit in the year ago period was 8.84 billion. The parent company“s sales forecasts have also been lowered to 216 billion yen, from the previous figure of 221 billion. Parent sales in the same period a year ago were 228.6 billion yen. The parent net profit forecast is also down at 3 billion yen, compared to the previous estimate of 4.5 billion and the actual result of 6.67 billion in the 1997/1998 period.
