8 April 1999: Shortly after the announcement of the definitive closure of Verlipack“s bankrupt plant at Mol, Belgium, the receivers in charge of the two other sites at Ghlin and Jumet said these would remain operational until mid-May at least. According to a recent report, only two potential candidates have expressed interest in the sites: a group of Walloon industrialists and Swedish consumer packaging group PLM. The former group has reportedly approached France“s Saint-Gobain in connection with its bid to obtain the necessary capital for the project. PLM is to decide whether or not to confirm its interest in the near future.
