A unit of Canadian firm Consumers Packaging Inc., an international designer and producer of glass containers, has been awarded a long-term contract to supply bottles for Anheuser-Busch“s Houston brewery. A recent report said the contract, which takes effect in January 2001, could represent more than C$ 70 million in annual sales. “This contract demonstrates our ability to produce bottles to exacting standards in a cost efficient manner backed by strong customer service,” said John J. Ghaznavi, chairman of Consumers Packaging Inc. Earlier this year, Consumers“ subsidiary Anchor Glass Container Corporation was awarded a long-term contract to supply Anheuser-Busch breweries in the Southeast. Consumers said it is developing plans on how best to meet the Houston brewery“s needs. Several options are under consideration. Together with its Anchor Glass Container Corp. subsidiary, Consumers Packaging is the third-largest manufacturer of glass containers in North America.
