Trade in Sofiaplast plastics producer and a block deal in glassmaker Belopal boosted total turnover on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange to 1.16 million levs (US$ 608,300) recently from 885,189 levs. Sporadic deals in a single company and block trades at pre-agreed prices that are simply registered with BSE sharply boost the tiny bourse where just 20 to 30 issues trade regularly out of a total of some 860 listed. Brokers have traded a total of 39,885 shares in Sofiaplast at 23.25 levs per share, up 1.71% from previous trading on November 25. “On November 25 (local) Petrol Holding Group sold exactly the same number of shares in Sofiaplast to Dutch company Autobar Group at 22.86 levs but we do not know yet whether today“s deal has anything to do with the previous one,” said one broker. A block deal in a total of 78,540 shares in Belopal glass producer was registered at 1.94 levs per share recently, further boosting total stock turnover. But then BSE“s total trading volume later fell to 149,127 shares from 452,673. Meanwhile Bulgarian soda ash producer Solvay-Sodi rose 3.83% to 9.72-10.85 levs.
