Vetropack Moravia Glass (VMG), a producer of glass containers in the Czech Republic, saw its sales grow by 7% to Kcs 1.684 billion last year, as it sold 647.6 million bottles and glass cans, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%. The company said it had posted profits, but declined to specify the figure. VMG accounts for more than 50% of the Czech glass packages market. Exports were up by 21.2% last year, despite the so-called Russian crisis, while labour productivity grew by 3%. The company had 686 staff at the end of last year, that is, 29 fewer than at the end of 1998. VMG is a subsidiary of Swiss Vetropack Holding AG, the sixth largest producer of glass packages in Europe.
