Sales of Poland“s Irena glassworks are to grow by 12.4% from last year to ZL 86.3 million, and net profits are to reach ZL 5.04 million, a 20.5% growth, according to an official forecast. Sales in the first quarter of the year increased by 20%, and net profit rose by 14%, compared with the same period last year, and Irena chief executive Stanislaw Pieciukiewicz said that demand remained strong. “Over 70% of our sales come from exports, and we have lately benefited from the weaker zloty. The number of orders for crystal products from EU countries and the US is growing, and we are slowly recovering in Far Eastern markets,” said Pieciukiewicz. Due to having nearly exhausted its output capacity, Irena is considering the purchase of a new furnace for crystal glass, at a total cost of ZL 6.5 million. The new furnace would increase output capacity by some 25%.
