Gulf Stablisers Industries (GSI) board has approved the first phase of an expansion to its chemical plant under which capacity will be increased to 6,000 tons a year; it will be operational by November. The plans were announced after the board from GSI, which is a joint venture between Al Zamil Group and the US“s Great Lakes Chemical Corp, held its meeting in Jubail during March. It also discussed the plant“s “outstanding safety record“ and start-up of the trial operation of the plant. “GSI is the first manufacturer of polymer additives in the Middle East,” said Ali A. Al Ghamdi, company president.
