Czech glass producer Glaverbel Czech showed a preliminary unaudited net profit of CZK 1.1 billion in 2001, up by 19.3% year-on-year, company spokeswoman Alena Janotkova said. In 2000, the glassworks showed a profit of CZK 930 million. In 2001, total sales reached CZK 7.97 billion, up 13.5% year-on-year. Exports accounted for CZK 5.54 billion of 2001 sales, up from CZK 5.02 billion in 2000. Value added rose from CZK 2.55 billion to CZK 2.82 billion in 2001. The glassworks launched assembly line production of glass sheets in Teplice, and of fire-retardant glass in Olovi. It also expanded its mirror production in Kryry. The Glaverbel Group“s consolidated sales grew from to CZK 11.9 billion in 2001, up 8.95% year-on-year. The group“s consolidated exports grew from CZK 7.9 billion in 2000 to CZK 8.5 billion in 2001.
