US Praxair and French Air Liquide Group, two of the world“s leading industrial gas companies, have formed the Shanghai Chemical Industry Gases Co. Ltd. The joint venture, an integrated industrial gas supplier, will support the development of the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, China“s largest chemical industry zone. The project will be implemented in two phases in 2003 and 2005. Praxair will lead in the design and construction of an air-separation plant for the supply of nitrogen, oxygen and compressed air, while Air Liquide will be responsible for a syngas (synthesis-gas) plant to supply carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
