Automotive glass manufacturer Nordglass will open a new plant in the Slupsk Special Economic Zone. Janusz Jankowiak, one of Nordglass partners, hopes that the plant will initially produce 150,000-200,000 items yearly and ultimately increase this amount to 300,000 pieces. Construction of the factory has cost the company PLN 12 million and was finished eight months after purchasing the site. The new plant will employ 70 workers. The company began operating in 1991 in Koszalin under the name Jaan Automotive Glass and initially imported and distributed automotive glass for repaired cars. In 1996, the Nordglass company was spun off and began producing replacement automotive glass. The company is fully owned by Polish capital and is the only Polish producer of glass spare parts, controlling 45% of the market. In 2002 the Nordglass plant in Koszalin produced 450,000 items of such glass.
