Carglass Espaa, the Spanish unit of UK auto glass repair and replacement company Belron, has transferred its headquarters from Badalona, northeastern Spain, to 6,000 sq m premises in Mollet del Valles, northeastern Spain, it was reported on 18 July 2003. The relocation of the headquarters is the result of the five-year growth strategy the company has followed since its entry in the Spanish market with 16 service centres in 1998. Carglass Espaa posted turnover of EUR 26.5 million (USD 29.7 million) for 2002, up 26% year-on-year. The increase in turnover was the result of the company“s expansion plan, aimed at consolidating its presence in southern Spain and entering the northern Spanish regions. The company opened 19 service centres in Spain in 2002, increasing their number to 65 by the end of 2002. It posted a 40% year-on-year rise in production in 2002. Carglass Espaa forecasts a 28% year-on-year rise in turnover to EUR 34 million (USD 38.2 million) for 2003 and a 45% year-on-year rise in production. Carglass Espaa obtained the ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate at the beginning of 2003. Belron is majority owned by Belgian automotive glass company Dicobel, which is 70%-owned by Belgian car importer and retailer D“Ieteren and 30 %-owned by Belgian holding company Compagnie Benelux Paribas.
