UK glass major Pilkington plc announced it will cut 50 jobs at its Automotive business unit in Tampere, southern Finland, it was reported on 8 November 2004. Pilkington has started redundancy talks with the affected staff, the company said. Three hundred people work at the Tampere factory. Pilkington employs over 1000 in Finland in its Building Products and Automotive business units. The Automotive unit has three safety glass plants in Yljrvi, Laitila and Tampere, all in southern Finland.
