Zytronic PLC, the UK-based manufacturer of touchscreens and laminated glass products, reported profits for 2004 as sales rose 54% on strong orders in all areas of its business. Chairman John Kennair said in a statement: “As we move into the new financial year, the order book continues to strengthen not only from the group“s existing accounts but also from new customers generated …” He said the company is confident of continued progress going forward. Zytronic“s pilot production plant for its new touchscreen product, ZYPOS, came on stream at the end of November 2004. Kennair welcomed the move, saying: “The introduction of ZYPOS after three years of development is expected to provide exciting new opportunities for the business over the medium term” In the year to September 2004, sales increased to GBP 8.8 million from GBP 5.7 million while pretax profit improved to GBP 350,000 from a year-ago loss of GBP 366,000. Operating activities continued to generate positive gross cash inflows of GBP 1.0 million, up from GBP 0.4 million a year earlier. Basic earnings per share stood at GBP 0.017 pence versus a loss of GBP 0.021 for 2003.
