Ghani Glass Ltd. (GGL) has launched production of float glass in Pakistan. Imtiaz A. Khan, Chief Executive of GGL said the company has setup a large float glass project at Sheikhupura near Lahore under the name of Al-Rehman Glass (Pvt.) Ltd. and has invested PKR 1.5 billion in the first phase with a production capacity of 350 tons per day. He said it will be Pakistan“s first coated reflective float glass equipped with the latest technology. Until now Pakistan has had no float glass manufacturing capacity and has imported from China, India and other countries. GGL“s share of the glass market is 80% of the food industry, 65% of the pharmaceutical sector and more than 50% of sheet glass production and sales. GGL operates eleven industrial and commercial units in Pakistan. The group runs all its business on a riba free basis under the Islamic Financing System.
