French glass and building materials group Saint-Gobain has said that the term of chairman Jean-Louis Beffa is set to continue until 2007 and that its board of directors has not yet decided on his successor. The group was responding to reports in the French financial press that Saint-Gobain managing director Christian Streiff, might not succeed Mr Beffa because he has had difficulties in carrying out his present duties. Mr Streiff was appointed managing director of Saint-Gobain a year ago.
