Spanish container glass maker Vidrala SA posted an attributable profit for 2005 of EUR 27.1 million (USD 32.3 million), up 29.8% year-on-year, the company told the Spanish stock market regulator CNMV on 28 February 2006. The positive results were mainly boosted by the output of its new plants in the Barcelona province, north-east Spain, and Corsico, northern Italy. Vidrala bought the two plants from Owens Illinois for an undisclosed sum at the beginning of 2005. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were EUR 73.6 million (USD 87.8 million). Turnover increased by 54.5% to EUR 293.8 million (USD 350.6 million), mainly due to the rise in its production volume. (All figures/comparisons are for 2005/2004)
