Showa Denko will invest JPY 8 billion to increase production capacity of aluminum and glass hard discs (HD) by about 15% to 15.75 million pieces a month before the end of 2006, the Japanese firm announced on 22 June. Showa Denko increased production capacity to 3.05 million pieces a month by March 2006 and has expanded output to 13.75 million pieces a month since April 2006; however, as global demand for HDs is very strong and it is difficult to meet customers“ requirements on quick delivery, the company has decided to make a further investment as an emergency measure.
