Vitro subsidiary Vidriera Mexico (Vimex) received the 2006 Foreign Trade National Award in the “Large Exports Company” category at a ceremony held 7 November 2006 at the National Foreign Trade Congress celebrated in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico. The award was made by Mexican president Vicente Fox to company representatives Sergio Martinez, VP – Medicine & Fragrance business, Victor Rodriguez, International Commercial Manager, and Valentino Ortiz, Vimex“s Workers Union General Secretary. With a headcount of close to 2000 employees and with annual sales in 2005 of USD 120 million dollars, Vimex is part of Vitro“s Glass Containers business unit and is dedicated to manufacturing, decoration, sale and distribution of glass containers for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical markets. Besides supplying glass containers for the domestic market, Vimex exports to 23 countries located in several regions with which Mexico has trade agreements.
