Owens-Illinois (O-I) has announced that it intends to improve its quality, sustainability and capabilities to better support the needs of its European customers for more sustainable and healthy glass packaging.
Owens-Illinois (O-I) is reportedly to spend EUR 140 million on strengthening its European operations in 2013.

2013 investments will be dedicated to furnace and glassmaking machinery upgrades at plants in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, across all the company’s market segments.
O-I employs more than 8,000 people in Europe across 11 countries, with more than EUR 2.3 billion of sales in 2011, which is about 40% of the company’s global sales.
