The client had one request: the staircase had to feel completely suspended in the air. Several teams believed the concept could not be built. The real difficulty was the curved structural glass.
The staircase relies on curved tempered glass panels working together with hidden steel connections to support the entire 5-tonnes structure from above. The lower glass panels only limit side movement and carry no structural load.
For NorthGlass, the key challenge was controlling the bent glass itself:
- curvature accuracy,
- optical quality,
- lamination precision,
- and connector alignment across every panel.
Even a small deviation in glass geometry would affect the entire staircase installation.
The staircase stands 4.2 meters high with 27 steps, yet the final result feels visually weightless.
When precision reaches a certain level, the structure disappears and the space becomes the experience.
