Encirc hosts UK Secretary of State for Department for Business and Trade

Recently, Encirc hosted Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Department for Business and Trade, at their Cheshire facility on Thursday, where a major update was announced to support energy intrusive industries.

From April 2026, manufacturers like Encirc, part of the Vidrala Group, will benefit from a 90 percent discount on electricity network charging, up from 60 percent, saving UK businesses an estimated GBP 420 million annually.

Managing Director Sean Murphy said, “This is a welcome boost during a challenging time for UK manufacturing.”

During the visit, Encirc also took the opportunity to engage directly with the Minister on key challenges facing the glass industry, including Extended Producer Responsibility. Continued government support for vital industries like glass manufacturing is essential to safeguarding jobs and unlocking investment across all regions.

Murphy added, “’We welcomed the opportunity to engage with the Minister on the pressing challenges facing our sector such as Extended Producer Responsibility. Continued government support for vital industries like glass manufacturing is essential to safeguarding jobs and unlocking investment across all regions of the UK.”

“The UK government support for a level playing field for UK manufacturers is a positive. Our ask is that this level playing field extends to Northern Ireland to ensure businesses there don’t get left behind and become unable to compete across the UK and Ireland.”
