Continuous quality for more than 50 years
With the first machines manufactured before automatic production – in the 1960s – Ghiver,
located in northern Italy, started with the GV 36, the company’s response to the market at that
time, and then the GG 87, Ghiver’s flagship product in the 1980s, with 200 built, right up to
the present day, and the GG 08 EM, managed mainly by electronic systems.
Ghiver is a dynamic and flexible company, following the needs and demands of the market
closely. And, in these 50 years, it has always been able to adapt to the changes of the market
and production, continuing with its innovations, improving the production efficiency of nume-
rous global leading glassworks of the pharmaceutical sector.
In 1995, Ghiver was one of the first companies to develop the automatic loader to supply the
glass tubes to rotating forming machines – for both vials and bottles. This enabled companies
to save time and costs, dedicating employees to other operations in the glassworks, resulting in
interesting return on investments. The loader was extremely simple, with completely pneumatic
functions, managed by a PLC, but without any mechanical motor and transmissions.
Ghiver’s recent machines now use variable speed drives, which can be re-phased by means
of electronic shafts, thus enabling to eliminate mechanical kinematics transmission that often
had an effect on the movement of the plants.
All mechanical parts have been removed from the furnace and all movements are now ma-
naged by brushless motors and gearboxes. Moreover, by means of a touch screen installed on
the control panel, the operator can call up group by group, and modify all phases without inter-
vening mechanically on the CAM, anticipating or delaying it. Therefore, intervening – instantly
– on the equipment being used, changing the phases without the need to stop the machine; so
no downtimes, no production halts, etc.
Ghiver manufactures from 12 to 15 plants a year, with the possibility of increasing these figu-
res if needed. In any case, a machine can be ordered, built and delivered in about 100 days.
Production is continuous at the workshop, with machines in different phases of assembly.
The company’s machines are really simple to install but it also offers clients the availability of
technicians for installation and start-up.
Working up to 16 hours a day, Ghiver machines guarantee continuous quality in processing
and there are lines that were built in the early 1990s and that are still working now – with the
same quality of products manufactured.
