SYMPOSIUM

SORG presented an overview of its modern furnace
designs at the recently-held 18th International Glass
Technology Communication Symposium. The presentation
included mathematic modelling as well as furnace and
forehearth technology. A special topic was the emission
control, reductions of emissions by primary measures and

the performance of SORG furnaces concerning low
emissions.
More than 250 participants joined this glass symposium,
among them about 50 presidents and technical directors
from different glass manufactures and several technical
speeches were held. They covered the range from furnace
design, refractory materials, glass mold and raw materials.
