fers bottles, jars, and glass
products for wines, food,
spirits, alcoholic bever-
ages, cosmetics, fruit juice,
mineral water, pharmaceu-
tical, and tableware mar-
kets in South Africa and in-
ternationally. The company
also produces silica sands
for external markets. It sells
its products through its
shops, as well as through
distributors and online.
Consol Glass was founded
in 1946 and is based in Johannesburg (South Africa).
The company produces up to a million tons of glass
annually—the equivalent of around 4 billion glass
containers. To gain a clear view of its supply chain
across multiple locations and ensure that processes
run efficiently at all times, the company relies on a
comprehensive suite of SAP ERP, logistics and analyt-
ics applications.
It has manufacturing sites in Western Cape,
Midrand, Johannesburg, and Germiston,
South Africa; and Kenya. Consol Glass (Pty)
Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of Consol Hold-
ings (Proprietary) Limited.
These sites produce a range of glass packaging for
the food and beverage industries inclusive of the beer,
alcoholic fruit beverage, wine, fruit juice, soft drinks,
mineral water and spirits markets. Consol Glass has
also acquired a majority shareholding in Glassforce,
Nigeria, with a manufacturing plant located in Aba
which produces glass packaging for the food and bev-
erage industries, including beer, as well as the phar-
maceutical industry. Its portfolio has also expanded
over the years to include packaging for the pharma-
ceutical and cosmetics industries – serving a wide
range of local and international customers.
