18 February 1999: Vitrum “99, the international fair specialized in machinery and equipment for flat, bent and hollow glass, as well as glass and related products for industry, will take place in Milan, Italy at the Fiera Milano between 3-6 November 1999. The eleventh edition of the fair will occupy the entire ground floor in the three new Portello pavilions, and in total, it will cover 100,000 square metres on three different levels. Two of these levels will be used as exhibition areas, while on the third, banks, restaurants and other services will be provided. The new pavilions have been designed to meet a wide variety of technical and logistic requirements, the organizers said in a recent press release. Their vicinity both to the centre of the city and to the main roads leading to the motorways means they can be reached easily either by public transport or by car. The previous edition of the fair in 1997 drew record numbers of exhibitors and visitors; the organizers are therefore optimistic that, coming as it does just before the start of the new millennium, this year it will represent the last important event for the glass industry in this century.
