At the 2006 Stellar Container awards ceremony, the Mexican Packaging Association (AMEE) honored Vitro with its second ecological container award for the Agua Punto Cero Grados container from Tocoringa. Vitro also received 42 other awards for its wine, liquor, soda, pharmaceutical and food packaging, which join the four Clear Choice Awards made to Vitro by the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) at its annual presentation in Chicago on 8 May 2006. “Receiving for the AMEE“s second ecological award not only underscores Vitro“s social responsibility and commitment to the environment, but also reinforces our customers“ environmental awareness. For us, each of our 43 Stellar Containers represents an opportunity and a challenge that becomes a fulfilled promise when transformed into our customer“s winning product,” said Alfonso Gomez Palacio, President of Vitro Containers. The main objectives of the AMEE“s annual contest are to recognize the creativity, innovation, environmental quality, cost efficiency, and variety of materials used in all of the participating containers and categories. “Vitro“s winning containers met all of the contest“s requirements, such as content conservation and protection, attractive sales design, manufacturing quality, as well as the use of economic and recyclable material, that the jury evaluates in making their decision”, said Roberto Romero, Vitro Containers Marketing Director. “In Mexico, our industry manufactures 10 billion glass bottles each year, and our containers business has developed the distinctive ability to satisfy precisely its customers“ needs; this allows us to participate actively in several high demanding niche markets, especially those showing growth potential, such as beverages, beer, wines and liquors, cosmetics and fragrances, among others,” said Mr. Romero. “We are proud to manufacture 100% recyclable products that enable us to preserve our environment and provide a cleaner planet for future generations. Our customers can build on this mindset to consolidate their leadership positions,” Mr. Romero concluded.
