Milk bottled in glass is on its way back in Mexico, thanks to an alliance between Vitro and Lala. With the aim of greater environmental responsibility and of giving the consumer a transparent product, the two firms are returning to the traditional container, they said in a statement. “The transparent container shows off the whiteness of the product as well as allowing the milk to be enjoyed really cold”, the product details state. Vitro marketing chief Gerardo Gebara is hopeful of a positive response: “consumers are increasingly concerned that the products they buy are environmentally friendly, and glass is 100% recyclable; furthermore, glass packaging doesn“t change the taste, the aroma or the properties of what it contains”. The 0.75 liter containers are made by Vidriera Monterrey and have a market price of MXN 0.12 each. Vitro Group spokesman Albert Chico said the container is categorized as a premium product.
