The Mexican glass group Vitro SA said last week that it lost 4.1 billion pesos in 1996, in results that reflect the inclusion of results reported by Grupo Financiero Serfin, an unconsolidated, associated company. Earlier in March, Vitro released 1996 results that excluded Grupo Financiero, which subsequently reported its results on 18 March. The reported loss compared to a restated net income profit of 1.1 billion pesos for 1995. Vitro“s total assets stood at 26.7 billion pesos, compared with 41.1 billion pesos at the end of 1995. The company attributed the decreases mainly to the divestiture of the US operation Anchor Glass Container Corp.
