Vitro, S.A. de C.V. announced 27 July 2005 that it is in discussions to pursue the sale of its 51% stake in Vitrocrisa to Libbey Inc. Vitrocrisa is a joint venture between Vitro and Libbey, and is the largest manufacturer of glass tableware in Latin America. Libbey currently owns 49% of the shares of Vitrocrisa and serves as the exclusive distributor of Vitrocrisas products to the United States and Canada since the joint ventures inception in 1997. With annual sales of USD 236 million for 2004, Vitrocrisa manufactures and distributes glassware for the retail, food service, and industrial segments of the glassware industry.
